Аннотация Работа посвящена одному из аспектов грамматики присоединённого вопроса английского языка - его положению в предложении. Ранее было показано, что в современной речи для присоединённого вопроса характерна подвижность, вклинивание в основную конструкцию - опорное предложение. В работе исследуется положение присоединённого вопроса в предложении в различные исторические периоды, начиная с начала новоанглийского периода (примерно 1500 г.) и заканчивая 1880-ми годами. Анализируются особенности, касающиеся положения присоединённых вопросов в литературных произведениях различных эпох.
